My name is Hænnäh ßjörk.
I work for a foreign language buzz magazine/web publication/blog/content farm in the small nation of Buzzstonia. You've never heard of it? We're somewhere on the border of Latvia and Bolivia, just a short plane ride from Fiji.
In Buzzstonia, we must use the internet to stay connected to today's trends and buzz artists. Only recently did we get the internet, and we like to read the foreign blogs in order to know what is 'cool' and 'now.' Up until a few years ago, 'youth culture' as a whole was banned by the government after the Buzzstonian Youth Revolt of 1992 when the majority of children were killed in order to prevent 'youth and alternative culture.'
It's been great to start to build up YOUTH and ALTERNATIVE culture in Buzzstonia again.
Basically, what we do is take the American/UK/Anglosaxon buzz and contextualize it for our Third World Audience. They have no idea who these people are, but they sure do look cool. Way cooler than the alts we have in our country of Buzzstonia. Just yesterday I saw some one with a Grimes haircut!
We utilize computers, graphic design, and pictures of people looking cool. Our editor reads a lot of American blogs, and many of our contributors have visited America for events such as 'the Coachella', 'the SouthbySouthwests', 'the Pitchfork Festivals', and even spent time in New York City Brooklyn and Los Angeles. They know what is 'cool', which is why we let them 'edit' and 'contribute' to our Buzztonian magazine.
Sometimes I feel like the Americans don't know how good they have it. Artists never travel to Buzzstonia because few tours come thru Southeast Eurmericsia. When they travel to Buzzstonia on tour, we treat them like Gods. Even the local importer of foreign buzz (local party promoter and booker) has been putting on more shows lately. The kids are coming, reminiscent to the American indie scene circa 2008.
Things are looking good in Buzzstonia. There's no 'Corrupt Indie Machine'. It's just cool people getting the word out for other cool kids. It's not 'media'--it's a social mission. We are building youth alternative culture. One Buzzstonian at a time.
Look at our magazine spread. Cool colors. Cool people. Words being cool. This feels good. We are building something in Buzzstonia. One day, a Buzzstonian will be inspired by the Anglosaxon/Eurocentric indie movement. This Buzzstonian will travel to the US/UK and take them by storm, completely redefining the whole scene.
This is the Circle of Buzz.
I gotta go search for cool header font / color combos.
YOUTH and ALTERNATIVE ARE ALIVE AND WELL IN BUZZSTONIA.
Let me know if you are coming to Buzzstonia because there is this one area with all the cool bars and shows. This one place has an old jukebox but all of the music is cool. One time Azalea Banks was there with Tavi Gevinson then Ethan Kath walked in and so did Lena Dunham.
